SpectraLayers 12 World Premiere
New and Improved Music Unmixing Modules | New Features in SpectraLayers 12
Register from 1 to 10 seconds of an instrument playing solo, and then extract it from a mix.
The first step is to select an area with the instrument you want to unmix playing solo, or if no solo part is available, manually select its frequencies using tools such as the Harmonics Selection tool for instance. Ideally you want to have at least 3 seconds of that instrument selected.
Then click
to register the instrument profile. The graph at the top shows the waveform of the instrument samples you registered.
- Instrument Name: Name of the instrument you want to unmix. The unmixed layer will use that name.
- Sensitivity: If not enough of the target instrument is captured, you can increase the sensivity. If too much is captured (including other instruments), reduce the sensitivity.

---|---|
The quality and success of the unmixing is highly dependent on the nature of the instrument, its timbre versus the timbre of other instruments, recording conditions and other parameters. This will not always work with any kind of sound. |
